...GdL interviews an aspiring model- BEATRIZ URENA

Model: Beatriz Urena Makeup & Styling by: Cris Sun

GDL would love to intro you to one of our sweethearts! Beatriz Urena. GDL did work with her for BKFashion Week for designers of Sachika. She was a doll! We did the interview over the phone (via email) technology. GDL would say Bee's makeup style is, au naturale. She doesn't like all the heavy makeup that comes along with the industry. GDL remembers a comment she made when we first worked with her. "You know a good makeup artist when they use Bobbi makeup." We got a clue right there that she had a natural style. So in her own life you won't find her with goo goobs of makeup veiling her face. Unlike many models and celebs who can't walk out the house without "something", concealor under the eyes, foundation, Bee's got no need to go masked. Still, she's a girl! And she loves makeup in it's due places. But it's gotta be a brand that's clean and natural looking. Well, we've done enough talking. Goodness, we can't stop but now Beatriz has the floor. Read on:

CRIS: We know your name but shout it out! What's your name? Shout it out loud!

BEE:  BEATRIZ URENA!!!

CRIS: What kind of work have you done? 

BEE: I HAVE DONE FASHION SHOWS, MAGAZINES, TRADE SHOWS, PROMOTIONS.

CRIS: What kind of work do you love most in modeling? 

BEE: RUNWAY

CRIS: Everyone has many jobs these days. What's you're side hustle?

BEE: I WORK AS SALES REP IN GARMENT DISTRICT NYC

CRIS: What makeup artists have you used and loved and for what venue? 

BEE: I HAVE YOU CRIS AS ONE OF MY FAVORITE, POSSIBLY MY FAVORITE!

CRIS: What's in your makeup purse now? 

BEE: BOBBI BROWN BLUSH, MAC HELLO KITTY BLUSH, VASELINE FOR THE LIPS, BOBBI BROWN LIPSTICK, BOBBI BROWN MAKEUP REMOVER, ECCO TOOLS BRUSH, CHANEL EYESHADOW IN GOLD, CHANEL GLOSS #64, BATH AND BODY WORKS MIDNIGHT POMEGRANATE LOTION, VICTORIA'S SECRET BEAUTY RUSH MASCARA IN VIOLIGHT.

CRIS: What's your favorite makeup brand and why?

BEE: I LOVE BOBBI BROWN BECAUSE ITS NATURAL AND ITS NOT HEAVY, I DONT FEEL LIKE I HAVE A MASK ON.

CRIS: What's your next big venue?

BEE: I AM PLANNING A PHOTOSHOOT TO UPDATE MY PORTFOLIO.

CRIS: Any unique talents? 

BEE: I CAN SING.

CRIS: Would you consider yourself to be an over-achiever, average, or riding with the waves? 

BEE: I BELIEVE I'M STILL ON THE COME UP...

CRIS: In school? Shout out your school if so. What's your major? 

BEE: I AM A PART TIME STUDENT IN COLLEGE FOR COMMUNICATIONS.

CRIS: What age did you break into modeling? 

BEE: AT AGE 19 WHEN I DID A SHOOT FOR REDKEN'S LOOKBOOK- HIGH SCHOOL EDITION.

CRIS: Tell us your story: 

BEE: I WAS APPROACHED AT MY HIGH SCHOOL FIORELLO H LA GUARDIA HIGH OF MUSIC AND PERFORMING ARTS BY TEEN PEOPLE MAGAZINE.

CRIS: What model is your muse? Why?

BEE: I LOVE LIYAH KEDEBE BUT I ALSO ADMIRE ANA BEATRIZ BARROZ. BUT I AM ALSO PROUD OF OMAHYRA MOTA BECAUSE SHE CAME FROM VERY HUMBLE BEGINNINGS AND SHE IS FROM MY COUNTRY..SHE GIVES US FREELANCERS HOPE THAT NO MATTER WHAT YOUR STATUS IN LIFE IS OR WHAT COUNTRY YOU COME FROM, YOU CAN ALWAYS MAKE IT.

CRIS: Who is your favorite designer, photographer and stylist?

BEE:I LIKE TOO MANY TO MENTION IN EACH PROFESSION.

CRIS: What's your daily skin care regime?

BEE: I JUST WASH MY FACE WITH NORMAL SOAP...IT'S A TABOO I KNOW, BUT I HAVENT BOUGHT ANY FACIAL PRODUCTS FOR MYSELF AS OF YET LOL.

CRIS: Have any work you'd like to brag about? 

BEE: WELL MY FAVORITE SHOOT WAS IN 1997 FOR NYLON JAPAN BECAUSE I RESPECT JAPANESE FASHION SOO MUCH SO IT WAS AN HONOR FOR ME TO BE CHOSEN BY A FASHION STYLIST TO BE IN ONE PAGE OF NYLON JAPAN.

CRIS: What are your future goals? 

BEE: I WANT TO BE ON TV AS A REPORTER OR A FASHION CRITIC, OR A WELL KNOWN MODEL WITH GOD'S HELP.

CRIS: Shout out your beauty team, agent, stylist, photographers or other resources here.

BEE: THANKS YOU TO ALL WHO SUPPORT ME, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

CRIS: What's your opinion on the modeling industry standards on weight?

BEE: I AM NATURALLY SKINNY SO I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS, BUT I DISLIKE THE FACT SOME WOMEN GO THROUGH THESE DISORDERS TO BE THE PERFECT MODELS. I SAY FASHION IS FOR THE PEOPLE BORN NATURALLY TO DO IT...OTHERS SHOULD'NT JEOPARDIZE THEIR LIFE FOR A CAREER.

CRIS: Any advice you'd like to give to other aspiring models? 

BEE: STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF AND LET THEM ACCEPT YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE. AND KEEP POSITIVE AND HEALTHY. GO FOR THE AGENCIES YOU RESPECT THE MOST. NEVER PAY FOR PICTURES...IF AN AGENT LIKES YOU HE WILL HELP YOU WITH PHOTOGRAPHERS AND SHOOTS AT NO COST.

CRIS: Where will we see you in two years? 

BEE: HOPEFULLY IN AN AD LOL.

CRIS: What's a perfect day for you?

BEE: EATING GOOD FOOD, GOOD WEATHER, GOOD HEALTH AND SURROUNDED BY PEOPLE I LOVE.
